Game Concept
Concept meant to show the other teams a basic idea of how I want the game to look. Art will take this concept and expand upon it when creating their own concept art.
Level Area Mockup
Before making concept art for each area I first create a mockup for how each section of the level will connect to each other. This also allows multiple level designers to work on the same area without stepping on each others toes and gives nessesary information to art while they create the rooms.
Level Concepts
Once the area is mapped out I can create concept art for each of the sections of the levels. A top view and front view are often necessary to properly convey where everything is located. In simpler concepts labels may often be necessary as well.
Character Concepts
For character concepts dynamic character poses are useful to show appearance to the art team and character the narrative team. And if you are making a reference for a 3d modeler multiple angles of the character in a relaxed state or a T-pose will be necessary.
Art Asset Concepts
Sometimes I create concept art for individual art assets if I have a strong desire for it to look a certain way.
Game Atmosphere Concept
During the very early stages or game development I will sometime create art meant to convey how I want the game to feel or to show a style that I want the art team to follow when creating the game.
